iOS 11 is not a significant software update like its predecessor, but it includes hundreds of new features that make what we do most even better and quicker. One such feature is “Share Password”.
As the name suggests, the feature allows iPhone and iPad owners to send their Wi-Fi passwords to nearby devices. This comes in handy, as it eliminates the need to go find the Wi-Fi password on the back of the router or give friends your complicated Wi-Fi password.
In this guide, we will go through the steps to share Wi-Fi password with nearby devices on your iPhone and iPad. Before we begin, note that iOS 11 is still in beta stages, meaning that Apple will probably change or remove the feature by the time the final build of iOS 11 is released this fall. You can install iOS 11 beta on your secondary device, rather than your primary device to avoid possible bugs and errors.
How to quickly share your Wi-Fi password with friends on iOS 11
Step one: On the device that you want to connect to your Wi-Fi network, launch the Settings app, tap on Wi-Fi and select the network to proceed
Step two: Next up, you will be asked to enter the password for the network. Head to your iPhone or iPad that’s currently connected to the network and unlock it (make sure that you place your devices close together)
Step three: A menu will show up on your device and ask if you want to share your Wi-Fi password with your nearby device
Step four: Now, you simply need to hit the Share Password button to complete the task.
That’s it! If you have got issues during the process, make sure that you have disabled Airplane mode on your device and you have already added the other device in your contacts.
Make sure that you send your Wi-Fi password to people that you can trust. The feature is enabled by default in iOS 11 and there is no direct way to turn it off.
