iPad Pro 10.5 review: A great iPad, but not for everyone

At this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple officially introduced new 10.5 inch iPad Pro following months of rumors and speculation. On the face of it, the new 10.5 inch iPad Pro might not seem like a significant upgrade. But, when you look inside, the tablet offers a better display, more powerful processor, and faster data transfer.

The new 10.5 inch iPad Pro serves as Apple’s strategic plan to attract a good number of users who are looking for a laptop alternative. However, there is still something missing that stops Apple from achieving that goal. In this post, we will help you discover why.

  1. Design

iPad has not changed much in terms of design and that’s no different with the new 10.5 inch iPad Pro. The new tablet features the same rounded metallic back, just like the current 9.7 inch iPad Pro, but what makes the new tablet stand out lies in its thinner bezels, offering comfortable one-handed operation.

The new tablet is probably the lightest iPad model Apple has ever released to the public (469 grams). Even when you attach a full size Smart Keyboard to the display, the new 10.5 inch iPad Pro is still a great tablet to hold for prolonged periods.

However, one major drawback is lack of water-proofing feature. It remains unclear why Apple doesn’t bring the feature to its iPad lineup. We are expecting see a new iPad Pro with water-proofing feature in the future.

The 10.5 inch iPad Pro offers the best screen performance we have ever seen on the market thanks to new technologies. The tablet’s screen is much brighter than the 2016 9.7 inch iPad Pro and even the older 12.9 inch iPad Pro. Besides, the 10.5 inch iPad Pro is the first iPad model to support HDR video, a premium feature in top-tier smartphones and TV sets.

The new iPad Pro comes with a True Color technology that automatically adjusts the brightness and tone of the display based on the environment you are in to make it easier for the eyes. Noticeably, the brand new screen technology ProMotion offers up to 120 Hz refresh rate, allowing for more responsive content.

  1. Specs

The new 10.5 inch iPad Pro features the new Fusion A10X chip, which is about 50% more powerful than the current Samsung Galaxy S8. The new tablet offers smooth performance rang from playing heavy-graphics games to watching high-resolution videos.

According to Apple, the A10X chip found in the new iPad Pro is 40% faster than the A9X chip in terms of graphics performance, while offering up to 10 hours of battery life.

The new 10.5 inch iPad Pro is a great tablet that offers everything we need from an iPad. If you are looking for a tablet with premium design and high level of accessibility, the 10.5 inch iPad Pro should be your choice.
