Steps to get the best Wi-Fi settings in your area using MacOS Wireless Diagnostics
You need to scan all of the Wi-Fi networks you can access by using the Wireless Diagnostics Application. Here is how.
Step 1: Initially, you need to hold the option key on your keyboard and then click on the Wi-Fi network icon located in your Title Bar
Step 2: After clicking Open Wireless Diagnostics, a “Wireless Diagnostics” window will open, but you should ignore it for now
Step 3: Next up, you need to click on Window in the Title Bar
Step 4: As soon as you click Scan from the drop down menu, a list of all of the Wireless Access Points in your area will appear
Step 5: You now need to click Scan Now to get access to all of the access points.
Under “Summary” on the left, you are able to see all the access points. Each access point will be divided into two ranges including the 2.4ghz range and the 5ghz range. The 2.4 ghz is a perfect tool for penetrating walls; however, it is also easy to be interfered with. In contrast, the 5ghz has less penetration but offer more stable connection.
Under “Summary”, it is not difficult to see the Best 2.4 GHz and Best 5 GHz channels for your area. More specifically, you can find the least-used or least-interfered channels in your area.
