With the latest update, Nest app now allows you to add two-factor authentication to your account. Basically, two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your login process.
In this step-by-step guide, we will walk you through the steps to set up two-factor authentication for your Nest account. Before we get started, adding new layer of security to your account means that your home security camera, smoke detector and thermostat will be double-protected.
Steps to set up two-factor authentication for your Nest account
Step one: First off, you are supposed to launch the Nest app from your home screen. Once you are done, all you need to do now is to tap the Hamburger menu located at the top-left of the app to proceed
Step two: Next up, you now need to tap the Account button and tap Manage Account
Step three: Once you are done, you are now supposed to tap Account Security and then tap two-step authentication
Step four: You will notice that the toggle next to 2-step authentication is now turned off, so all you need to do is tap on the toggle to enable the feature
Step five: You will be asked to enter your password and tap Continue. After that, you need to enter your phone number, then enter the 2FA code you receive on your iPhone and tap Continue
Step six: Once you are done, you simply need to tap Done to complete the task
